RESERVE AND PREPARE

  1. Hopefully, you've already been fitted for gear at the dive shop. If not, head on down there and get fitted!
  2. On the Monday prior to your dive training weekend, call the dive shop (AnyWater Sports: 408-244-4433) and reserve your gear:
    1. Regulator (Primary, Alternate, Console w/ pressure gauge, depth gauge, and timing device or computer
    2. Buoyancy Compensator
    3. Weight Belt and Weights
    4. Two Tanks
    5. Wet Suit

    6. IMPORTANT
      1. Test your gear prior to leaving the dive shop to ensure it is working properly. Attach the regulator to a test tank, test the inflator hose of the BC and be sure it holds air, and finally, make sure your tanks are full. Also, make sure the compass is free of air bubbles.
      2. If you rent from another source, please inform your instructor in advance so you can be assured the rental equipment meets the requirements.
  3. You will also need the following:
    1. Required
      1. Mask and Snorkel
      2. Fins and Dive Boots
      3. Gloves
    2. Recommended
      1. Warm jacket/windbreaker
      2. Knitted cap
      3. Water and Food to snack on between dives
      4. Sunscreen
      5. Money for parking (typically $5-$8)
  4. Get a good night sleep and stay hydrated prior to diving
  5. ARRIVE ON TIME
    1. You must arrive on time! We may move to an alternate site if conditions dictate. Please call us if you think you will be late--ask your instructor for the appropriate number to call.

      Open Water I

      1. 8AM Saturday – San Carlos Beach (The Breakwater)
      2. 8AM Sunday – McAbee Beach

      Open Water II

      1. 8AM Saturday – North Monastery Beach
      2. (Time varies) Sunday – Cypress Charters, Municipal Wharf
